Colorpoint Shorthair History history

Colorpoint Shorthair is the name the CFA use to refer to cats of Siamese type in colours other than seal, chocolate, blue, or lilac point (the "traditional" colours). This name is also given to cats of Siamese type and colouration with colours other than the traditional colours in their eight generation pedigree.

A Colourpoint Shorthair cat will be any traditional colour, red point (also called flame point), cream point, any of the above colours in tabby point (also called lynx point), and any of the above combinations in tortoiseshell point.

In the all registries except for CFA, the colorpoint shorthair is not considered a separate breed from the Siamese, and are shown as Siamese.
